Become a Vendor

Information for Potential Seller

New vendor orientation is held Tuesday and Friday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to attend should be at the Real Change office prior to the start of orientation to read and sign a code of conduct. Vendors who used to sell the Real Change paper but have been inactive for more than six months are required to attend a new orientation. No personal identification is required to become a vendor, and vendors are not required to have any kind of license beyond a Real Change badge to sell the paper in the Seattle area.

After completing orientation, vendors will receive 5 free papers. Vendors may return to the office at any time and purchase additional papers to sell and earn income. Real Change vendors buy the paper for $0.60 per copy and sell it in the community for $2. Vendors who wish to continue selling the paper must attend a sales training within one month of attending orientation. Vendors will receive 5 free papers after completing sales training.

Real Change does not require vendors to work a minimum number of hours or sell a minimum number of papers. In addition, vendors may sell wherever they choose as long as they abide by the “first come/first serve” and priority “post” policies.

Additional training and support opportunities, such as skill building classes, use of the Real Change address to receive mail, and resource referrals are available to all Real Change vendors.
