You may have heard 2024 is the year of the Dragon. What does this mean? Why should you care?
Astrology is a thousands-year-old study practiced all around the world, connecting the movement of planets and stars in the universe to their effects on Earth. In Chinese astrology, the zodiac sign attributed to each year shares the flavor, lessons and opportunities of the year. This awareness can help us focus our expectations and actions so we can live in greater harmony.
Yang Wood Dragon is the flavor of 2024. Having studied the energy patterns of this zodiac signature, I believe this is what it wants us to know:
With today’s tumultuous, warring political and environmental factions, Yang Wood Dragon urges us to maintain our grand hopes by continuing to push through outdated values, empowering our magical visions for the future and rising above conflict through generous action.
Yang Wood represents the young sprout breaking up and out of the dark soil. It is exuberant, thunderous, resilient, passionate and also still tender in its newness.
2024 is the year to invest in the belief that the tiny, tender sprouts of passionate focus can break through the hardest of soils. New inspiration naturally longs to grow and thrive. The key to our growth is resilient, patient and caring action.
Dragon is the magical and powerful creature of myths. It is beyond human limitations. In Chinese philosophy, dragons grandly awaken in sprint out of the deep, dark waters to climb and soar amongst the highest clouds. Dragons know no bounds. They are magnanimous, lucky, abundant, empowered and generous.
When real-life magic (the way our inspired feelings and beliefs abundantly create what we desire) is paired with the enormous power of the loving heart, possibility opens wide. This is the promise of Dragon.
Scary depictions of a large, menacing, fire-breathing dragon that needs to be killed by the brave warrior are not the flavor of this year. Yang Wood Dragon is inclined toward beneficial abundance of every kind: new innovations and opportunities, empowered healing and co-creating, treasures that come from sharing with others and freedom from hoarding out of fear and lack.
Experiencing the many gifts of Yang Wood Dragon will come through your personal connection and embodiment of its qualities. Focus your attention on what is growing, lighting you up and bringing you joy. Slow down to notice the sweet magic of life around you in nature, in children, in the deliciousness of your living. When faced with challenges, practice loving, patient compassion from the tenderness of your heart.
This is the Dragon alive in you. This is the grand desire of 2024.
